What are my treatment options for a smile makeover?

DENTAL BONDINGS

Dr Fraser has trained in this technique so that he can offer all of his patients the excitement of a beautiful new smile. Working with the latest materials and techniques to expertly sculpt and remodel chipped teeth, uneven tooth shapes, close gaps, improve colours and irregularities of the key teeth in your smile. Composite veneers are chemically bonded to the underlying tooth structure to achieve spectacular changes within only a few hours - you will walk out the door with a new smile all on the same day! There is often little if any tooth preparation and cutting required. WHITE TEETH FILLINGS
Silver mercury fillings look ugly. We use tooth coloured fillings on both the front and back teeth to give you a better looking natural smile.
Teeth filled with tooth coloured fillings tend to be stronger as a chemical bond forms to the surrounding tooth. The materials have improved so much over the past few years that it is often very hard to see exactly where the filling is as it blends in to your natural tooth surface so well.

PORCELAIN DENTAL FILLINGS INLAY AND ONLAYS
Porcelain fillings or cosmetic inlays and onlays Extensively filled back teeth can now be rebuilt with the modern technology of porcelain to restore teeth to their original colour and shape. Teeth which have very large silver fillings are at a high risk of fracturing and causing further damage to what little amount of tooth tissue is actually left. These teeth can now be rebuilt with porcelain fillings(inlays/Onlays) - a much stronger and more long term option than a regular filling. Not only will the tooth look like a normal tooth again, it will be a very aesthetic natural colour match and will be more durable lasting many more years than a regular filling. After treatment you can open your mouth wide again - laughing and smiling with confidence.
Onlays are sometimes referred to as partial crowns as they cover slightly more of the tooth surface. These restorations are much more conservative though than crowns, and can be imperceptible from your natural tooth.

Botox and dermal fillers have many therapeutic and esthetic uses in dentistry they can currently be used for treatment of TMJ (jaw joint pain) and orofacial pain, in cosmetic procedures to modify lip lines or smile lines to enhance cosmetic results, and to minimize the appearance of gummy smiles.
Dentists are uniquely suited for providing Botox treatment. We are skilled at assessing the balance and overall aesthetics of the face. We have had extensive training in the anatomy of the head and neck and every day we inject cranial nerves in sensitive areas of the head. Our technical skills have been finely honed.

Dr Peter Fraser has undertaken in-depth training which enables him to provide intricate procedures such as sinus lifts, implant placement, complex endodontic treatment. We no longer simply drill teeth and treat gums. When properly trained, there is arguably no better practitioner to provide Botox. It is a scary thought to consider that some current injectors of the drug may have attended neither medical nor dental school, have had very limited training and may not be under the direct supervision of a medical professional.
Facial injectables require knowledge of facial anatomy combined with skillful application techniques, and have the added benefit of relaxing wrinkles and preventing the formation of further fine lines and wrinkles.
Gummy Smiles & Gum Recontouring
The term gummy smile refers to there being too much visible gum showing in comparison to the amount of tooth showing when you smile. There are many possible reasons why this occurs:

the teeth may be too short in proportion to the amount of gum showing;

an over-protruding upper jaw bone causing the gums to be over-exposed;

over-active facial muscles; or
-
a combination of these factors.

GUM LIFTS
A great solution for those of us that are embarrassed to smile, because we show too much gum (gummy smile) or have very small shaped teeth. Gums can be re contoured by a very simple procedure known as a gum lift. A dental laser removes excess gum, sealing as it goes so there is no need for stitches. It is a very quick painless treatment which takes place in the dental chair. The results are dramatic showing more teeth for a fuller instant smile. When used in conjunction with porcelain veneers, this combination is an ideal way to correct oddly shaped, small or crooked teeth as well as greatly enhance your smile.
Depending on the cause and extent of excess gum tissue showing there may be some more advanced treatment options required. Sometimes this involves surgery of the jaw bone performed by an oral and plastic surgeon.

Orthodontics & Invisalign
Straightening teeth isn't just limited to children. Although the treatment can take slightly longer as an adult because you are out of your growth phase - it still works well and can sometimes be used as a modified treatment course to accompany veneers or other cosmetic treatment options. Invisalign is a process of sequential clear splints which effect the movement in your teeth and is known as the invisible way to move teeth.
